Notes from your School Psychologist, Dr. Debbie Nastasi

Wow! The first nine weeks of school has flown by...with all of us keeping very busy. The first report card has gone home and maybe some of you are looking for ways to help your child continue to do well this next nine weeks. Many parents have told me that homework is often a struggle in their homes. There, this month I offer for your information HOMEWORK TIPS FOR PARENTS. I hope they help you make homework (which is inevitable) a more pleasant time around your home.

Parenting classes are still meeting after a slow start due to our two tropical visitors. Many have expressed interest in a spring class.  In the past, we have not had enough parental interest to do two classes a year. However, if you are interested, please let me know. There are already two parents who would like to meet in the spring and we only need 5-6 families to make it happen. Please send a note with your child or call me at the school if interested.

The Rainbows program is also moving along. We have three groups meeting this year. Thanks to Mrs. Lyons for her dedication to this much-needed program.

Finally, a big thank you to all that have participated in the AGS updating of the Behavior Assessment Scale for Children. I appreciate your willingness to spend a little time filling out the forms and also your promptness in returning them. Our school has earned a nice bit of money for your participation. We thank you and will let you know soon how successful this fund-raiser was. Remember if you would like to speak with me personally, I am at Nativity on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9am until 4pm. I would love to visit with you or help you with issues concerning your child. Have a Happy and Holy Thanksgiving as we continue to be thankful for all the many blessings we receive each day.
