November 1, 2006
Dear Parents and Guardians,
We remember, we celebrate, we look to the future! As we celebrate our 50th year, we give thanks for the many staff members, parishioners, families and students who have gone before us and who have made our school what it is today!
Wasn’t our Halloween Carnival a wonderful celebration? The preparations and decorations were certainly an example of people working together! And then the rains came…and our “rain plan”
worked! Amid the hustle and bustle of moving booths and people inside, one of our third graders (Justin Diaz) looked up at me, grinning, and said, “Nothing can stop us!” How true! A big thank you to each of you for whatever part you played in our event. A special thanks to Mrs. Jennifer Schmidt for all of her efforts in coordinating all the pieces that made this such a successful and fun time!
Thank you for your tremendous response to the Heart Walk effort. We were able to donate $1,500.00 to the American Heart Association.
Don’t miss the calendar item for Monday, November 6th. Yes, you read it correctly…we are going to participate in a Guinness Book of World Records task. Our students will participate in cup stacking activities throughout the day. Our participation, along with that of many other schools, will go toward establishing a record for this book. If the record is set, we will receive a certificate acknowledging our participation in the effort. Please feel free to come by the school to see our stackers in action!
As our weather gets cooler and you send your child in a sweatshirt or jacket, please be sure that there is a name on the label of the item. Unfortunately, our lost and found basket is already filled to overflowing. Also, if your child takes music lessons, please be sure that there is a name either inside or outside the case so that we can easily find the owner.
Will you be joining us for “Cruisin’ Through the Years” on November 11th? This birthday event, planned especially for those of us over 21 should be great fun. Former students and families, current families, parishioners, community members and friends of the school are invited to join in a night of music, dancing, food and remembering…all for $10.00 per person! If you would like to purchase a ticket, please stop in the office.
Our NPA (Nativity Parent Association) will be holding a Christmas Cash Raffle. The tickets will be coming home soon with students. The tickets, $1.00 each, will give the buyer a chance to win $500.00...just in time for Christmas! The class who sells the most tickets will win a pizza party while the class in second place will win an ice cream party. Our NPA officers are also seeking a chairperson and co-chairperson for our Annual Raffle and Silent Auction. Anyone interested in filling these important positions should contact Peggy Givens, Jennifer Schmidt or Sr. Mary Jo. As always, we appreciate your help and support of our projects!
Thanksgiving this year will certainly be a time of giving thanks and remembering the goodness of so many people. We continue to be surprised with monetary donations and items to be used by our students and teachers. So many people continue to hold us in daily prayer as we recover and rebuild. May you and your family experience the blessings of health, of happiness and peace this Thanksgiving Day and each day
throughout the year.
God bless!
