May 1, 2009

Dear Parents and Guardians,
As we begin this month of May, we join others around our community and diocese in welcoming our new bishop, Bishop Roger Morin. As part of the Nativity BVM Parish, we know that we will see him not only for large diocesan celebrations but also for Sunday Masses and celebrations.  Be sure to make it a point to introduce yourself and your family when you see him. He is new to our community and we want to make sure that we reach out in welcome.
Our calendar is filled with special events and activities. We have tried to include all special (and not so special) events. Please refer to the calendar often and please take time to read the extra signs/notes that we may put up throughout the month.
Just as we will try to continue to “teach until the last day,” we would ask you to encourage your child to continue to take school seriously and to work hard until that last day.  As our days grow warmer and as extra activities and practices crowd in, it gets more challenging to remain focused and ready for school.  School begins promptly with morning prayer at 8:00 a.m. Please have your child arrive on time so that he or she is able to begin the day praying together with his class. One special note – because we began school a week later than most schools, we will end several days later than most schools!
Registrations for the new school year continue to be accepted.  We have a waiting list for first grade.  Three other classes have reached the maximum number. Some openings remain in the other classes so please encourage anyone considering enrollment in our school to contact us as soon as possible.
If your child will not be returning to our school, please call me.  I would like to speak with you and see what I can do to make the transition as smooth as possible.  Also, please remember that a formal withdrawal request must be completed and all financial accounts must be current before school records can be transferred to another school.
Thank you to all who made the Twenty-Ninth Annual Diocesan Track Meet so successful!  We enjoyed using the facilities at St. Patrick’s and appreciated your flexibility when the date changed. Congratulations to our students, to Coach Loretta Bond, to our teachers/staff members who assisted, to our concession stand crew and to all who made this event possible. This was truly a wonderful gathering of schools!
We hope that you and your family will be able to participate in the May Crowning celebration following the 9:00 Mass on May 3rd. ALL children are invited to be part of the procession following Mass. All families of Nativity School are invited to the annual Nativity parish picnic following the 11:00 Mass on May 3rd. Hamburgers, hot dogs and drinks will be provided; each family is invited to bring a dish to share. ALL are welcome!
May God bless each of you and your families and may God continue to bless us as we work together.
