Dear Parents and Guardians,
What wonderful surprises these last few days have brought!
Our calendar is filled with special events and activities and, I am sure, that others will be added along the way. Please refer to the calendar often and please take time to read the extra signs/notes that we may put up.
As we end our school year, we will be saying goodbye to one of our classroom teachers. Mrs. Doreen Thornton has been a teacher in our school for many years. At this time in her life, she has decided to change direction in her work and will launching out into a brand new area. We thank her for the many ways in which she has helped children and pray that God will continue to bless her in the future.
I am pleased to announce that Mrs. Cheryl Gruich has accepted the position of fourth grade teacher here at Nativity BVM School. Mrs. Gruich is a long time teacher in the Biloxi City Schools and brings with her a great deal of experience, enthusiasm and a love for children. Since her children attended our school several years ago, she is quite familiar with our school already.
Just as we will try to continue to “teach until the last day,” we would ask you to encourage your child to continue to take school seriously and to work hard. As our days grow warmer and as extra activities and practices crowd in, it gets more challenging to remain focused and ready for school. School begins promptly with morning prayer at 8:00 a.m. Please try to have your child arrive on time so that he or she is able to begin the day praying together with his or her class.
Registrations for the new school year continue to be accepted. We are pleased to let you know that we have begun a waiting list for our Pre-K 3 class and that we will be having a second kindergarten class. Some openings remain in all classes (other than Pre-K 3) so please encourage anyone who may be considering enrollment in our school to contact us as soon as possible.
If your child will not be returning to our school, please call me. I would like to speak with you and see what I can do to make the transition as smooth as possible. Also, please remember that a formal withdrawal request must be completed and all accounts must be current before school records can be transferred to another school.
Thank you for all that you have done to make this year such a success. I would like to offer a special word of thanks to our great faculty and staff, to our School Advisory Council members, to our NPA Officers and to you, our parents. This has been a wonderful year and you have helped to make it so very special!
As we move into this final month of school it really is pretty exciting to look back and see all that has been accomplished. Children have grown physically, spiritually, emotionally and academically. Many have excelled in certain areas and others have struggled to learn new material. Each of us has been invited to look beyond ourselves and to live the Beatitudes in a unique way. Much growth has taken place as our students have learned to look beyond themselves and reach out to others. Our sixth grade class has been a terrific model of service and care for others. Not only have they looked out for one another, they have also been guides, mentors and “big brothers and sisters” to the younger students. I am continually amazed at their maturity, their willingness to give and their sensitivity to others. We will miss them but certainly wish them well as they move on to junior high school.
May God bless each of you and your families and may God continue to bless us as we work together.
