Dear Parents and Guardians;

A blessed and happy new year! I know that every one of us is hopeful that this new year is filled with every possible good thing!

As we return for this second semester of school, I would like to assure you that each staff member is ready to work with and challenge each child. Over the last months we have changed some of our routines and adapted some of our expectations to fit the circumstances. As we begin this new month and new semester we will continue to expect involvement, interest and dedication from each student. Please help us to ensure that your child is ready to learn...enough rest, a time and space for homework and having something for breakfast all help to bring out the best in the child. And always, know that we are ready to work with your child in every way possible.

Our January calendar shows that many of our activities are back. Scouting for both boys and girls, choir and sewing club are all held on a regular basis and on regularly scheduled days. Special events are included on the calendar and we try to remind you about them by using our sign boards near the exit of the school. BE SURE to mark your calendar for Friday, January 13! Our school Advisory  and Nativity Parent Association Officers have committed themselves to sponsoring "an event" for parents/guardians/adults once each month for the remainder of this school year. Plan on an evening (6-8pm) of good food (David Leckich's Biloxi-Famous jambalaya!) and great conversation. Please remember, this is for adults only.

The annual celebration of Catholic Schools Week is set for the last week of January. Our annual Mass with Bishop Thomas Rodi will be held on Wednesday, February 1st at Nativity Cathedral at 11am. PLEASE try to join us for Mass. We would love to be able to fill the Cathedral with our Nativity Families! You are invited to bring a picnic lunch and eat with your child at school following the Mass.

People have been so generous, haven't they?  Our "Resource Room" continues to be well-stocked through the kindness of so many people from around the country. All of you are more than welcome to "stop and shop." If you have family, friends or co-workers who may be in need of clothes, shoes and/or household items, you are welcome to bring them with you. The Resource Room is open during the school day (6:45am-5:30pm) and on Saturdays (when I am working at the school) We also have some canned food items in our gym that you are more than welcome to take.

One of the blessings of our school is the family spirit that we have all experienced. Some of you may be aware that several of our staff members have experienced the recent deaths of parents. Dr. Debbie's father died just before Christmas. Mrs. Theobald and Mrs. Warner's mother died on New Years Day. I know that you will keep them and their families in prayer.

Please don't hesitate to contact me if your family is in need. We will do our best to help you or to find out what group or organization is available to provide for your specific needs.

May God continue to bless as we follow Him!
