December 2, 2002

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Great things are happening!

I have found myself repeating that sentence so often in the last weeks! SO many great things have happened daily here at our school and within our community because of the care, concern and working together of all who make up our school.

Thank you for your generous support of the non-perishable food drive for Thanksgiving. Our Nativity Youth Group was able to provide holiday food boxes for over 33 families in our area. Your help made this possible!

December is a busy month for all of us. We have tried to include all extra activities on our school calendar so that you can plan your schedules to include these special events. Of course, our holiday concerts (Band/Strings and Choir) are wonderful opportunities for you to enjoy the sounds of the holiday season. The children and their directors have been working hard to prepare for them. Our school Christmas program, an original piece written by Mrs. Colleen Kavanagh (6th grade teacher) includes all of our students in PreKindergarten through Grade 6. The dress rehearsal, daytime and nighttime performances provide us with a chance to share our talents in a less-crowded environment. As in the past, we have unlimited seating for the dress rehearsal. Daytime and nighttime performances are limited to ticketed persons only (6 daytime/2 nighttime) in order to keep the crowd a manageable size. More information about the program itself and your child's "costume needs" will be coming home within the next week.

As a way to raise funds for our school (and maybe help busy families!) we will be participating in a Domino's Night on Thursday, December 5th. Customers at the Pass Rd. Store (Gate 7) and at the D'iberville store who mention our school's name will earn a percentage of the bill for our school. Please consider participating in this project!

Although preparations are being made for this holiday season, our priority continues to be the education of your child. We will continue to do our. best to help your child learn all the way until the final day of school Please help us by making sure that your child receives proper rest and is prepared for the day's events! Our first semester of school ends with our final day of school before Christmas.

Don't forget to stop by the Main Branch of the Biloxi Public Library to see the Nativity BVM School Christmas tree. All ornaments were lovingly made by the children of our school. We also have been invited by Bishop Rodi to decorate the Christmas tree at the Diocesan Pastoral Center.

March 29, 2003 is the date set for the Fifth Annual Raffle to benefit Nativity BVM School. At the suggestion of one of the parents, tickets for the raffle will be on sale through the school office during the month of December so that people may purchase them as Christmas gifts. The tickets, $100 apiece, admit four adults to the Raffle buffet, Silent Auction and provide an opportunity to win one of many money prizes. Also, it is not too early to begin to think of items/services that might be used for the Silent Auction. All proceeds benefit Nativity BVM School.

During this Advent season, please know that you and your families will be remembered very specially in prayer. May this season of preparation bring you peace and a new awareness of the beauty of the world around you. May God continue to bless us as we work together!
