December 1, 2001
Dear Parents and Guardians,
We are the Body of Christ...Called to holiness...called to ministry.
What a blessed time of the year this is for us.. .and what a busy time of the year as well! I pray that each of us will be able to find a few moments of quiet to observe this Advent season as a time of spiritual preparation for Christmas. We will try to keep you informed of school "happenings" in order to lessen your stress... at least m one area!
We hope that you will be able to attend our Band/Violin Chrstmas Concert on
Tuesday, December 11th at 7:00 p.m. and our Choir Christmas
Concert on Thursday, December 13th at 7:00 p.m. The many, many
students who make up our band/violin group and our third, fourth, fifth and
sixth grade choir members have worked hard in preparing holiday selections. We
are proud of all that they have accomplished and
are grateful to those who work with them.
Early next week you will receive an informational letter about our upcoming
Christmas program. Although the speaking parts are the responsibility of our
sixth grade students, each class/grade will participate in the program by
singing one or more songs Through the years, this has become a "Nativity
Tradition" and has given every child in our school a chance to have a part
in the program. in order to help with overcrowding we
again will hold a daytime dress rehearsal and morning and evening performances
as well. Admission to the daytime and evening performances will be by ticket
only.
During this Christmas time, several classes are pooling funds to purchase a gift for the annual Foster Childrens' Christmas party which is hosted by the Nativity BVM Youth Group for foster children of Harrison County. If you are interested in purchasing a gift as a family for a foster child, please contact Mrs. Ziz for further information.
On December 12th, Father Tony will celebrate Mass with us in our school gym at 9:00 am. This is always a special time for us and we look forward to praying together in this way. As always, you are invited to join us.
In the last weeks, two of our school families have had loved ones deployed due to the world situation. I know that you will join in prayer for them as well as the many other military families who are experiencing similar situations. Each Tuesday morning at 8:10 we continue to meet for morning prayer at the flagpole to pray in a special way for world peace. You are welcome to join us!
I would like to take a moment to personally thank you for helping me to celebrate my "milestone" birthday in such grand style! From the surprise assembly in the gym last Monday to the many cards and kisses that I have received throughout the week, I can only say how lucky and loved that I have felt. This is truly a week that I will never forget!
As we end the month of December, we are also completing our first semester of school. This school year has brought many exciting challenges and opportunities as well as its share of surprises. During this Advent season may we continue to reflect on our blessings and opportunities for growth and continue to ask God's guidance and help in our lives. Know that you and your family are remembered in my prayer each day.
May God bless us as we continue to work together!
