Dear Parents and Guardians,
We are the Body of Christ...called to holiness...called to ministry.
With the beginning of Daylight Savings Time we truly begin to realize just how close we are to the end of the school year! This year has really flown by but we have many important events/activities still to come.
The biggest fundraising event of our school year comes at the end of this first eek back to school. The Raffle of the Millennium, now in it's fourth year, provides us h a significant amount of revenue that is used to benefit our school. You have made the job of the committee so much easier by your help and participation! Your response to the basket project was wonderful. So many of you have come forward to offer help or to provide additional donations! The sale of the tickets is very important to the success of the event. If you are able to sell additional tickets, just call the office and we will be happy to send them home. All tickets, sold and unsold, should be returned to school by Thursday, April 11th. Help is needed for the set-up of the event (alter school on April 12th and during the day on April 13th) and for clean-up (April 13th). Please don't hesitate to volunteer! Finally, I hope that you will be able to attend the Raffle of the Millennium... you will enjoy great food and entertainment, wonderful company and maybe even the opportunity to walk away a winner! A HUGE thank you to the members of the Raffle Committee for a job well done!
Our annual Nativity School Field Day has been set for Friday, April 19th. The field events, organized by Coach, will begin for preschool students at 9:30 and at 10:00 for all other students. We are always in need of help that day in running the actual events so please consider offering your assistance. If older brothers/sisters who do not attend Nativity are coming to the Field Day, they may help with one of the field events or must be with the parent at all times.
Registration for the 2002 - 2003 school year continues to go well. It is obvious that you have shared your positive experience of Nativity with your friends and neighbors! If you know of anyone who is still considering enrollment in our school, please encourage them to contact us as soon as possible. Several of our classes are nearing maximum enrollment. If your family will not be returning to our school for this next school year, please contact me. I would like to do what I can to help your child make a smooth transition into the new school.
A big thank you to all who helped during our week of standardized testing. The week went very smoothly and I know that the children took the work very seriously. You will receive a parent report detailing the results of your child's test within the next few weeks.
Little things DO add up! Remember those Box Tops for Education that many of you have been saving? Over the Easter break those little pieces of cardboard were bundled up...and earned our school $200.00! Please remember that, in addition to the Box Tops for Education, we save Campbell product labels/UPC codes and Community Coffee product UPC codes.
You are invited...to the annual Nativity Parish picnic on Sunday, April 28th on the grounds of Tullis Manor in Biloxi. All families of Nativity School are welcome to attend regardless of parish membership. Mass will be celebrated under the beautiful oak trees at 11:00 a.m. A "bring your own picnic" follows the Mass. The Nativity Parish Life Team and the CYO (Youth Group) will have games and activities planned as well. The Parish Life Team is offering an additional incentive to attend--the class with the highest percentage of attendance will be treated to an ice cream party! Please consider attending with your family!
As you are planning for the summer, please be aware that we will not be hosting a summer program this year. Over this next school year, our School Board will study the issue carefully and see if it would be feasible for us to begin the program again the following summer (Summer 2003).
Each morning we pray "for those who are so good to our school"... those who donate money, skills, materials, time, physical labor and those who pray for us. Each of you and the members of your family are included in that prayer. We appreciate the support and help that you give us daily.
As we near the end of the school year, it is important to remember that we will continue to teach until the last minute of the last day of school! Homework will continue to be given in most grades despite the warmer weather. Please continue to monitor what your child is doing in school and whether or not assignments are being completed on time and in the best way possible. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have a concern about your child's progress or lack of progress.
May we continue to hold one another in prayer and realize how blessed we are!
