Dear Parents and Guardians,
Well, we made it through the first month of school! Ok, so it wasn’t a FULL month, but it was a busy few days to be sure. I think the days went smoothly and I know that we all have appreciated your help and cooperation. The children have done a beautiful job and have really settled in well.
We had terrific attendance at our School Information Night and I know that we will have a good response as well when the meetings for grade 2 and grade 4 are held. As I mentioned that night, communication is so very important to a successful school year. We need you to hear from us and we need to hear from you! One of our main sources of communication is this newsletter…it isn’t fancy or high tech but you can be sure that it will be filled with information about the school and its programs as well as any special events. The lunch menu is included and often there are added notes from our librarian, NPA president and other groups. PLEASE be sure to look for this newsletter on the last school day of each month. Although we give one to each child, you are more than welcome to pick up extra copies if you need them for grandparents or other family members. Also, the newsletter, calendar and lunch menu may be found on our website.
Several special programs are beginning during this month: Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Nativity Choir, Afterschool Art Classes, Legos and Junior Robotics. If you need further information about any of these, please call the school office or send a note and we will be happy to get back to you with information. We are so grateful to the staff members and parents who are willing to sponsor these programs for our children.
Isn’t our Project Fit Playground wonderful? Remember, the “fit pit” is for your use as well. We look forward to our dedication celebration in a few weeks!
Although the cold and flu season is generally a little later, it seems as if these things are surfacing a little earlier. According to the most current information, the BEST thing that we can do is to make sure that hands are washed frequently (using soap!), that anti bacterial hand cleaners are used, that surfaces are washed frequently, that coughs and sneezes are covered and that those who are sick/running fever stay home. We have always monitored absences and symptoms carefully and we will continue to do so. Please remember to call us if your child will be absent for the day.
Again, welcome to Nativity BVM School and to our school year. Please know that we consider it a privilege to work with your child and with you.
Let us build a world of peace! Our theme for the year is sometimes easier to say than to live. But, by working together and reminding one another of WHY we are here, we can accomplish a great deal in a peace-filled way. May God continue to guide and bless us and fill us with His peace.
