  • Testing

    All students in Grade 2 through Grade 6 participate each spring in the Iowa Assessment of Skills. This national, standardized test measures how a student performs the areas of Math, Reading, Language Arts, Social Studies and Science. These results, along with what has been observed by the teacher and parent, give a good indication of the strengths and weaknesses of each student.  

  • Gifted and Talented Program

    The EXPLORE program is available to students in grade 2-6 who have achieved a certain level of academic performance. Classes, held several times each month, challenge the thinking, creativity and performance of the participants.  

  • Academic Assessment

    A School Psychologist provides academic assessment or screening as requested.

  • Counseling

    A Licensed Social Worker provides counseling and guidance services one day each week. She is available for individual or small group sessions or for classroom presentations. Students, faculty/staff members as well as parent/guardians are free to set up appointments with her.  

  • Tutoring

    A tutoring program is available for children who do not qualify for the Learning Resource Class, but who may be experiencing difficulties in one of the major subject areas. A student may be referred to the program by the classroom teacher, a school staff member or the parent/guardian. Services are provided by a certified teacher during the school day.  

  • Speech Therapy

    Speech therapy (articulation) is provided by therapists of the Biloxi City School System for those students who qualify for these services. The services are provided onsite at Nativity BVM School on a designated day of the week.  

  • Learning Resource Class

    Students who are tested and determined to have a specific learning disability are able to receive services in the Learning Resource Room. Classes are taught by a specially certified and trained teacher who holds a Masters Degree in Special Education. The program is recognized as a special education program by the Mississippi Department of Education.

  • Summer Saints Program


  • Robotics

    Nativity School is proud to host a Robotics Team for students in grades 4 through 6. As part of First Lego League, students plan and carry out tasks related to the national theme for the year. Students learn to program a robot, prepare a presentation for judging and learn and practice core values of leadership, cooperation and critical thinking. The program is guided by Mrs. Debbie Worrel of St. Patrick High School and is assisted by St. Patrick High School students and Nativity School Staff members.   • Basketball

    The Nativity Saints Basketball team began in January, 2015 and continues under the guidance of several parent-coaches. Boys and Girls in grades 3 through 6 are eligible to participate. Practices are generally in the evening at the school. The Nativity Saints scrimmage and play games with other local Catholic elementary schools.
