Student Life

 
  • Junior Legos

    Junior Legos, a part of the First Lego League, is open to students in grades 1 through 3. Children begin to learn and develop the core values of leadership, cooperation and critical thinking and build and create projects according to the national theme for the year. The program is guided by Mrs. Debbie Worrel of St. Patrick High School and is assisted by student mentors from St. Patrick High School as well as Nativity School Staff members. The Junior Legos group holds its meetings weekly during the second semester of school. A small participation fee is charged for the semester.

     
  • Scouts

    Scouting programs, for both boys and girls, are available for students in Kindergarten through Sixth Grade. The individual programs are led by parents or friends of the school and are under the guidance of the regional scout masters. Meetings are held several times each month as announced. Scouts participate in local as well as regional events and outings.

  • Instrumental Music/Guitar

    Instrumental and Guitar lessons are available at the school under the guidance of Mr. Bruce Garner. Classes for children in Grade 4 through Grade 6 are provided either individually or in small groups several days per week near the end of the school day. Payment and scheduling are arranged directly with Mr. Garner. Mr. Garner comes to Nativity School with many years of experience working with young musicians in various school settings.  

     
  • Violin/Strings

    Violin, strings and piano lessons are available at the school under the guidance of Dr. Tim Bergman. Classes for children in Kindergarten through Grade 6 are provided either individually or in small groups several days per week near the end of the school day. Payment and scheduling are arranged directly with Dr. Bergman. Dr. Bergman brings with him extensive experience working with children in schools and community groups as well as young adult experience working at the college level.

  • Robotics

    Nativity School is proud to host a Robotics Team for students in grades 4 through 6. As part of First Lego League, students plan and carry out tasks related to the national theme for the year. Students learn to program a robot, prepare a presentation for judging and learn and practice core values of leadership, cooperation and critical thinking. The program is guided by Mrs. Debbie Worrel of St. Patrick High School and is assisted by St. Patrick High School students and Nativity School Staff members.   • Basketball

    The Nativity Saints Basketball team began in January, 2015 and continues under the guidance of several parent-coaches. Boys and Girls in grades 3 through 6 are eligible to participate. Practices are generally in the evening at the school. The Nativity Saints scrimmage and play games with other local Catholic elementary schools.  

     
  •  
  • Choir

    The Nativity School Choir, under the direction of Mrs. Nanette Burke, is open to boys and girls in Grades 3 through 6. Students work with Mrs. Burke on Thursday afternoons, near the end of the school day. The Choir leads the singing at school Masses and celebrations as well as at the Sunday Liturgy at Nativity Cathedral several times each year. The Choir has been invited to perform at several community events and holds both a Christmas and Spring Concert.

     
  • Drama Club

    The Drama Club, under the direction of Mrs. Wanda Stewart and assisted by Mrs. Kelly Pennell, is open to children in grades 3 – 6. The students meet once each week, learn about the theater and work on special skills. This past year, the students worked on two presentations – a religious interpretive piece at Christmas time and a play in the spring.   • Spirit Squad

    Spirit Squad

    The Nativity Spirit Squad, formed in August, 2015, is open to boys and girls in Kindergarten through Grade 6. The purpose of the squad is to provide “spirited support” of our school at assemblies, basketball games and special events. The squad, under the direction of several parents, has cheered at several games and school events and has participated in some community-wide parades.
